10.17 Friday Faves – The Fitnessista

Hello friends! Happy Friday! What’s happening this weekend? We meet friends for dinner, head to a fun fall festival, and tour Liv High School (how?!). Right now, I’m having a relaxing time in the morning with my Lumebox and my PEMF mat. The weather has been a dream this week, so hopefully we can sneak in a family outing. I’d love to hear what you’re up to!
It’s time for the weekly Friday Favorite Party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your favorites too, so please say something you love in the comments section below.
10.17 Friday favorites
Fashion + Beauty + Random:
New York City Adventures! We had the best fall break trip to New York City. This was P’s first time, and it certainly lived up to her high expectations. She couldn’t believe how tall the buildings were and how many things there were to do. Both kids were blown away by the amazing shopping, the gorgeous scenery of Central Park, and all the great food options.
Some highlights:
vision six With family! Liv and I watched the tour production and loved it, and thought it would be the perfect family Broadway Appearing since we have already seen Disney productions. It’s not wildly inappropriate – there are some innuendos that will fly over the heads of younger kids – and it’s short and sweet. No intermission and more of a concert atmosphere. This actor was crazy – Heart of stone It almost made me cry into my glass of white wine – and everyone loved it. P said she wants to see it again!
Pizza at Don Antonio. Pizza like this always baffles me in the best way. It’s doughy, salty, flavorful, and not greasy. How can 99% of gluten-free pizza be terrible when such treasures exist?! It’s possible to make the perfect gluten-free pizza…just hop on a plane to get it.
(Always a margarita with anchovies)
Modern bread and bread. I’ve followed them on Instagram forever and added it to my must-eat list. P is also gluten-free, and we are often disappointed by our gluten-free breads and cakes. This place had both, and they were more wonderful than I can explain. They tasted like the real deal! New York City is doing it right, friends.
(I loved it so much I went back the next day to bring the bread home in my bag. The good news is they ship!!)
Natural History Museum. Liv and I have been going to this for years and wanted to take P. She was blown away by the exhibits and we all enjoyed walking around. It’s easy to spend a few hours here and it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon.
Central Park. We walked around Central Park for a few hours and found a beautiful grassy field where we could relax and the kids could run freely. This was the point where I envisioned my life in New York and what it would be like to spend time here in the middle of the workday or over the weekend. life.
Carve community with friends!! I reached out to my friend Heather, who I’ve known for a long time through the blogging world but haven’t seen in years, and was so excited that she was able to fit into a Sculpt Society class at UES. The studio was amazing and we were able to take lessons from Matt, one of my favorite TSS teachers. (Although I love them all!) It was so great to catch up with Heather and also meet and hang out with my blog reader friend, Sana!
Sana reached out to her because she lives in New York City, and asked her if she wanted to meet in class. I love meeting blog reader friends in real life. A lot of times, you guys will tell me that you feel like you know me from reading the blog, but it’s the same way – I feel like I know a lot of you (especially my friends who are OG readers) after all these years.
With Sana and Heather:
(She brought the sweetest bouquet of gluten-free candy! The girls and I had the best candy picnic on the trip home)
As far as class goes, I loved it. It went by super fast and killed my inner thighs. Matt was fun in person too. I adore his energy and teaching style and am so glad I had the opportunity to take a class with him.

We also shopped, ate a lot of delicious food, walked everywhere and enjoyed the city. NYC is a magical place and I hope it won’t be 6 years until we return 😉
(Just a shout out here to our favorite Amex Platinum card! We used our $100 dining credit, $200 back on hotel stays, points for our hotel, and free lounge access for this trip. If you decide to check it out, my referral link is here. My credit card travel tips are in this post.)
Olive rose hey! I’ve been waiting for this day for months shaking my empty Skin Tint bottle. It’s lightweight, buildable, and feels like skincare and makeup in one. I also asked to try some of their lip butters and blushes, as well as to restock my favorite shower gel.
Read, watch, listen:
Read this now and it’s fascinating to see how tongue position, swallowing, breathing, etc. affect the shape and structure of the face. (Besides the physical impact, proper breathing mechanics make a big difference to sleep and the nervous system!)
Are you watching? Dancing with the stars? If so, who will you be rooting for this season??
Don’t forget to watch this week’s podcast episode with medical intuitive Rachel Reimer here.
Fitness, health and good eating:
Canopy has a new air purifier! You guys know I’m obsessed with Canopy products, and this new air purifier is sleek and cool, plus you can stack it with your bedside humidifier. Perfect combo! Use FITNESSISTA here to get 15% off.
I can’t wait to make my favorite chili recipe.
Thank you so much for visiting the blog today! Have a great weekend and I’ll see you soon!
xoxo
