Luke Littler and Luke Humphries will go head-to-head again in the Boyle Sports World Grand Prix Final, the latest chapter in a growing generational rivalry between the world’s top two players.
The pair lived up to their expectations as pre-tournament favorites to reach Sunday’s final at Mattioli Arena, with Littler following up a thrilling first-leg clash against Gerwyn Price by beating Johnny Clayton 5-1 and Humphreys defeating Danny Nobert 5-3.
Humphries has topped the PDC Order of Merit since beating Littler to win the 2024 World Championship final at Alexandra Palace, with both players having won multiple major television honors and enjoying huge success over the two seasons since.
Littler has already won the UK Open and the World Matchplay Championship in 2025, along with two World Championship events, while Humphries has reached his third consecutive World Grand Prix final having already won the World Masters and Premier League titles.
Recently described by Humphreys as “the biggest match in darts in the world”, Sunday’s match in Leicester will be the 25th time the Locke pair have faced each other in a professional PDC event.
Littler has bested ‘Cool Hand’ in 14 of the previous 24 encounters, including six of the 10 encounters so far in 2025, although Humphries has won three of the past five finals in a PDC major or world championship.

2024 World Darts Championship Final: Humphreys 7-4 Lettler
Littler captured the attention of the sporting world with his memorable debut at Alexandra Palace, where the 16-year-old beat former world champions Raymond van Barneveld and Rob Cross during an impressive run to the final.
Nuke looked set for a famous victory when he won three straight sets to take a 4-2 lead, but squandered the deciding D2 to gain a three-set cushion and allow Humphries to narrow the deficit in the deciding first leg.
Humphreys then won each of the next four sets to claim victory, a fourth major television title in as many months, while Littler’s second-place finish saw him selected for the Premier League the following year.
2024 Premier League Final: Letellier 11-7 Humphreys
Littler had a strong start to his first season in the Premier League, winning four nights of action on his way to the top of the standings, then rounding off the season with another impressive victory over Humphreys at London’s O2 Arena.
The teenager had already beaten Humphreys in each of their previous four regular season meetings, including the first two weeks, with Littler extending that run and becoming the youngest Premier League champion.
The first to eleven contest was set at five each when Littler delivered a thrilling nine-dart toss to send the crowd into a frenzy, before following it up by winning five of the next seven games to claim the top prize of £275,000.
2024 Players Championship Finals: Humphreys 11-7 Littler
Littler arrived as Grand Slam of Darts champion looking to cap off an impressive first year on the professional circuit with another television title, but fell short against Humphreys in a high-scoring final.
He fired four more tons during the match, including 170 and 164 finals during a three-legged explosion, where he fought back from 5-1 down to drive inside Humphreys’ leg and set up a thrilling finish.
The duo stuck together as Humphries took the final three games to seal an 11-7 win, extending his lead as world number one and joining Michael van Gerwen as the only players to successfully defend their Players Championship Finals title.
2025 Premier League Final: Humphreys 11-8 Littler
The Lukes duo dominated the NL regular season, winning nine nights between them, with the pair facing off eight times – including five finals – on their way to a top-two finish in the standings.
Humphries looked in danger of losing to Littler at the O2 Arena for the second year in a row after trailing 3-0 and 5-3, but the world number one turned the match around by winning five of the next six meetings to open an 8-6 lead.
The “Cool Hand” team finished 11-8 despite Littler recording an average of 100.29 and a maximum of ten In the match, with Humphries winning his second TV title of the year and seeing him become only the ninth player to win a Premier League title.
2025 New Zealand Darts Masters final: Letteller 8-4 Humphreys
Littler raced to his third title in less than a month, following World Matchplay and Australian Darts Masters victories with a record-breaking display against Humphreys in Auckland.
He averaged 115.02 – the highest average ever in a World Championship final – during another impressive display, extending his winning streak and claiming the fourth World Championship title of his young career.
Littler went out to a 3-0 lead and extended his advantage to 6-2 with 13 darts and 11 darts, then answered back-to-back Humphreys by closing out the win 8-4 with 11 straight darts.

Sky Sports’ Mark Webster said: “What a final. Humphries is not afraid of Littler because he beat him in grand finals and vice versa. It doesn’t deflate your opponent.”
“They are the best players in the world. They keep getting to finals and know each other’s games inside and out. The match will be played at a pace that suits both of them, but it will be a bit final.”
