Liverpool wants to sign a new central defender this summer, following the departure of Jarrel Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen. And the favorite to reach Anfield is Mark Goy of Crystal Palace.
Guehi remains less than 12 months in the Crystal Palace contract, which is why Liverpool believes they can get a cut price deal. However, no agreement has been reached yet, and this allowed other clubs to enter the race – although these efforts are expected to be useless in the end.
Mark Joye gives Liverpool’s priority to move above all else
According to football Insider, Mick Brown revealed that Tottenham has returned to guehi bidding, but Liverpool is preferred to sign it – either this summer or 2026.
“Tottenham was looking at Mark Joyah again. They wanted to sign a center and was listed in their list since this offer was rejected in January, because Palace may be ready to allow him to leave.
“I think it will be difficult to do, because Liverpool is the candidates. He wants to go to a team of the highest level where he got a chance to win things like the Premier League and the Champions League on a fixed basis. So I was told that he is transporting his heart to Liverpool, where he could go.
“They are definitely interested in it and I expect to make another offer at some point. If it doesn’t happen, I will not feel the excessive shock of seeing it remains in the Palace for another season and waited to go to Liverpool with a free transfer.
“Even if Tottenham comes for him, I expect that he prefers to wait and see what comes as well. There is always a little uncertainty about Tottenham, for me, and I think he wants to go somewhere, he will be sewn and know what he will happen. Liverpool is what he wants, so I think Tottenham will get the search elsewhere.”
Liverpool hopes to sign Guehi this summer, although they are ready to follow other goals if the price of the Crystal Palace request does not decrease. Even if another person is brought in, it will not be surprising to see England international in Anfield in 2026, especially if Abrahama went to Real Madrid.
