Benjamin Netanyahu said that he hopes that US president Donald Trump’s meeting will lead a deal forward to release the Israeli hostages in Gaza, where he left for Washington amid increasing discontent in the cabinet on a potential shooting ceasefire with Hamas.

The Israeli Prime Minister sent a negotiation team to Doha on Sunday in an effort to finish the touches on an average deal in the United States to stop the fighting for 60 days, and the release of 28 Israeli hostages and start talks at a permanent end of the war. This came despite the fact that his office rejects the latest demands of the Palestinian group “unacceptable”.

Netanyahu told Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on Sunday: “We are working to achieve this deal that was discussed, according to the conditions we agreed on … I definitely believe that the conversation with President Trump can help strengthen this result we hope.”

The meeting with Trump will be Netanyahu’s third visit to the White House since the opening of the US President in January, more than any other world leader. It also follows the Israeli and United States attacks last month on Iran.

Netanyahu said he would thank Trump for “his strong recruitment on behalf of Israel … against our common enemy, Iran”, where he pledged to “stay awake” against any attempt by Tehran to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Trump told the reporters on Sunday evening, “We are close to a deal on Gaza” and “We can get it this week.”

“I think there is a good opportunity because we have a deal with Hamas during the week, during the next week, with regard to some of the few hostages. As you know, we got a lot of hostages, but with regard to the remaining hostages, a few of them will be released,” he said.

Trump added that Iran will also discuss with Netanyahu.

He said: “We are working on a lot of things with Israel, and one of the things is a permanent deal with Iran. Otherwise, they have to give up all the things that you know well.”

The two leaders are also expected to discuss the possibility of normalizing diplomatic relations or reaching other security deals between Israel and neighboring Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia and Syria.

After the Iran war, “We are clearly changed the Middle East than recognition, and we have an opportunity to change it more,” Netanyahu said on Sunday.

Most Arab officials assert that any step to normalize relations requires at least the end of the Gaza war, and perhaps a road to a Palestinian state in the future.

Trump explained his desire to stop the shooting in Gaza, and said on Friday he was “very optimistic.”

However, pressure on the weekend grown on Netanyahu from the right -right allies in his ruling alliance, who expressed his opposition to any stopping in the war and any increase in the huge aid allowed in the pocket pocket.

More than 57,000 Palestinians, according to the health authorities in Ghazan, were killed in the struggle caused by the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 on Israel.

As part of the US-made proposal, Qatar and Egypt-which is seen by the Vinnashal Times times-on the initial stoppage for 60 days, will occur a huge flow of aid through the United Nations and other international relief groups.

Israel stopped this mechanism, which is led by March, when it first laid a siege for 10 weeks and then began implementing the special aid plan, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, with the support of the Trump administration.

On Sunday, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalil Souttienu criticized for not achieving what he said was previous government decisions to enhance the mechanisms designed to prevent help from falling into the hands of Hamas.

“The decision was taken yesterday [by Netanyahu’s security cabinet]Unlike our position, providing aid in the old and bad way is unacceptable to us and we will consider our steps against it. ”Smotrich wrote on X.

Itamar ben-gvir also criticized the proposal, calling for the restoration of the Israeli military force on a full pocket, and all aid stood and encouraged Gazans to “migrate”.

According to the draft proposals, the “serious negotiations” to end the war-a long-standing enthusiasm-will start on the first day, with the appointment of mediators to provide guarantees to extend the truce in the case of a need for more time to reach a permanent ceasefire.

More negotiations will be needed to determine the extent of the withdrawal of the Israeli army during the truce, as Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons also detained the hostage.

Netanyahu continuously refused to commit to ending the war until “complete victory” was achieved on Hamas.
