£86m striker who Harry Maguire called “world-class” now key target for Man Utd

The striker described by Harry Maguire as “world class” has now emerged as a prime target for Manchester United, having made an impressive start to the season.
Manchester United is keen on a new striker despite Cisco’s improvement
There have been some concerns about the way Benjamin Sisko has started the season, given the striker is among Manchester United’s most expensive signings ever, but the Slovenian has begun to improve in recent weeks.
The 22-year-old scored United’s only goal in a disappointing 3-1 loss to Brentford, before going on to score the second in a 2-0 win over Sunderland, finding the back of the net with a clever touch from inside the box.
Despite the rise in Cisco’s production, the Red Devils are still keen to add another striker to their ranks, with the presence of Ruben Amorim arguably highlighting the options a bit, given that Joshua Zirkzee, who scored just three goals in the Premier League last season, is the current understudy.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester United have now identified Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane as a prime target, although their chances of beating Tottenham Hotspur with his signature depend on improving their current league position.
United may have a difficult time convincing Kane to move to Old Trafford, with the striker prioritizing a move to a club playing in Europe and competing for regular silverware, and the 32-year-old’s emotional attachment to Tottenham could play a role in his decision.
The former Tottenham man, who joined Bayern Munich for £86m in 2023, arguably has his work cut out for him in the Premier League, with Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record within reach, although he has already established himself as one of the best strikers in Premier League history.
A ‘world class’ Kane would be a huge coup for Manchester United
Manchester United are credited with a long-term interest in the Bayern star, which is not surprising, given he is England’s all-time leading goalscorer, with Maguire previously praising the impact his team-mate has made at international level.
The centre-back said: “He leads by example on and off the field and is a great person in the locker room. He is a fantastic, world-class player. He proves it year after year and his coaching style is the reason why.”
The England captain has been a consistent, high-profile striker for more than a decade, but there are early signs that the current season could be his best yet, with he already scoring 18 goals in all competitions.

It is clear that Kane would be a huge coup for Manchester United, but it is difficult to envision the deal being completed unless there are significant improvements before the 2026 summer transfer window.
