“Yes, I’m a really empathetic person. I mean, at the end of the day, we’re always a family,” the reality star said. “I always look at it that way, no matter what happens. There are times when I have to be very protective, and there are times when I love that relationship at any given moment. I’ve always said that.”
“The music and production side is not my thing, that’s what connects her to her dad,” Kim said of her 12-year-old daughter’s foray into music.

“Even just bringing things up, we have to communicate how North moves through this world and all of these opportunities that come his way, and having to filter that and respect his opinion about things that are going on with his kids is really important,” she added. “I think that’s important for kids. You just have to, kind of, put all the other things aside.”

Kim revealed that she is raising her younger children differently

Some have publicly criticized Kim’s perceived leniency in North’s parenting, but she told Khloe that she is much stricter when it comes to her younger children, Chicago, 8, and 6-year-old Psalm, than she is with North and 10-year-old Saint.
“I treat my older child a little less well [differently]. “I have stricter rules for my two younger children,” Kim noted. “So, my older two children have devices.” [and] My little ones don’t do that. It’s interesting [because[ your first kid [or] Your first children, grow up without or [you are] You figure it all out together, and then you learn, and you realize that maybe you want to do things differently.

Kotb also praised her dynamic with her children and their “wonderful relationship” during the podcast. “They love me, they respect me [and] They are great. As you know, every child goes through stages and experiences moments of growth and moments of learning.
Kim previously shared her parenting struggles with Kanye in 2025

In an October 2025 interview on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy,” Kim gave a detailed account of her strained parental relationship with West.
“Look, it’s not easy, no matter what, to co-parent with anyone. I think the only thing that gets me is that there’s this narrative that I keep kids away from,” Kim said, per TODAY. “I didn’t do that once.
She then expressed her frustration at the story that she deliberately kept her children away from the West.
“There were so many times where I was like, ‘Oh, I just want to show all these scripts. What are you talking about?’ Like we haven’t heard (from Ye). I beg them to go out and hang out or stuff like that.”

Kim explained that she was shocked by West’s social media rant about their co-parenting relationship when she was under the impression things were positive between them.
“It’s just a story, I think everything is fine, we’re living our lives, and then I wake up, and there are all these tweets about how kids are being kidnapped,” Kim said at the time. “And I say, ‘It’s not a kidnapping, it’s a divorce, you know? We can all still be in each other’s lives and have group dinners.’
North released a preview of her new music, which was produced by her father

On Thursday, January 16, North released a snippet of her song “Piercing On My Hand (Ye Version)” on Instagram, per PEOPLE.
In the song, North talks about her leather hand piercings, which have been the focus of much controversy on social media, with critics believing the 12-year-old is too young to have modifications done to her body.
“A hole in my hand and the other one has the bands,” North sings in the first verse of the song. “No friends, just filter, you won’t understand.”
“All my friends are successful, you know I’m not lazy/You’re so mad ’cause I’m mainstream,” she says as the song continues. “I’m not sure I’m crazy/I want more piercings and tattoos/I love blue hair, put it in some braids/Turn the music up to max/I want a hundred thousand racks.”
