Thomas Frank claims support still in place after big win Champions League

The Tottenham manager is set to get another chance against Burnley this weekend

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has revealed that support is still there for him to continue in his position as coach following the impressive 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Tottenham continued their strong form in Europe, moving into the top five with just one game to go and maintaining their perfect home record.

In contrast to league level, the north London club produced a tremendous performance against Europe’s best, extending their unbeaten run at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to 24 games, the third-longest streak in the competition.

But Frank is still staring down the barrel of a gun with his club’s form in the Premier League, which has seen them languish in 14th place, eight points off fifth place.

However, the Dane bought himself the game against Burnley to try and get things back on track, and he was in an upbeat mood during his press conference on Thursday afternoon.

He said: “I think the support has been exceptional all season. Not only, I know there are some questions about me, but it’s not about me. It’s about me, the staff, the players, the club.

“And the alignment has to happen and that direction and alignment is very clear from ownership to the board and to Vinay and Johan. Everyone is on the same page and a lot of things are going in the right direction. We just need to back that up with more good performances and more good results.

“I had lunch with Nick and Johan again today. So I think this is again a good sign of that support that is there. And we need to keep it going.”

Fears of infection continue to mount

Last season under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham struggled with injuries, which greatly affected their ability to compete on all fronts.

For this reason, Postecoglou gave up on the Premier League and did his best to win the Europa League instead.

The injury trend has continued, unfortunately for Spurs and unfortunately for Frank.

He spoke about the situation, saying: “It should be close to my third year in the Premier League with Brentford. I’ve also had a terrible year which has had a huge impact on the Premier League season unfortunately, so that’s definitely close.”

“How unlucky is Bergvall? With the contact injuries, there was Joao? Kudos? Some of them are like what’s happening here, it looks like we’re cursed or something but injuries are part of football. The next thing we can look at is how we can speed up the return to playing.”

Tottenham will be without several players for the trip to Turf Moor, where they face former midfielder Scott Parker’s side on Saturday.
