‘You don’t get to dictate what customers speak…’: Sridhar Vembu makes a case for Hindi in business

When Zoho Sridhar Vembu says that Hindi is the “language of the bonding” of the Indian customer, it does not make a political statement – it provides practical commercial advice. In a country where multiple languages are the base, VEMBU argues that Indian occupies a unique position, not only in the north but through urban and non -speaking areas. He says fluency is not the point for business leaders.
“You can get Hindi in Hyderabad, Bubanswar, or in Colkata,” Vimbo wrote on X.
The VEMBU post appeared from a real commercial reaction. “Last week, I met the Edia’s smart (and Zoho agents) who hails from a small village, and spoke stalled in English, but the Indian is very decent,” participated. “He had to use the English language to talk to me. Talking about the Indian stop mixed with English words was easier for us to do business. This is what I aim to reach.”
For VEMBU, the business revolves around the customer’s interview wherever they are. “In Tamil Nadu, the English language learned to do commercial businesses worldwide, because you speak the language of your customer. You cannot dictate what the customer speaks.”
Now, with “globalization” in the opposite direction, “he says that the 4 trillion dollar local in India occupies the lead – and Hindi, in his opinion, is the bridge.” Thus a practical businessman thinks, “he wrote.” You can attack me everything you want, but if you are a commercial person, you will be smart to take this advice! “
VEMBU directly addressed the critics: “I am generally fortified from being attacked without mercy, so thank you for wasting your time instead of knowing how to move forward in life.”
The author and Al -Muhsin Soudha Morte chanted a similar view recently. “We have known Hindi … we enjoyed beautiful films … I haven’t had difficulties,” she told NDTV about her time in Tamil Nadu.
For MURTY, the language is not a battlefield – it is a bridge. “Children can learn any number of languages … We are all carrots and the only bridge is the language. So I want to have many bridges – it is good for my work.”
