Georgia lawmakers pass ‘Riley Gaines Act’ to keep boys out of girls’ sports

Georgia’s Legislative Council approved a draft law on Monday along the party’s lines often to ban sexually transformed girls – or biological males – from participating in girls’ sports.

SB 1, also known as the “Riley Jeans Law of 2025”, requires athletes in middle schools and secondary and college schools to compete for sports teams that are in line with their biological race.

Bathrooms, tank rooms and sleeping quarters will also be restricted to allow only biological boys in the specific spaces for boys and biological girls in the specified spaces for girls.
