Our research from artificial intelligence makes Google Cloud Solutions faster, simpler and more efficient

Google Cloud enables institutions to transform themselves digitally into more intelligent works. It provides cloud computing, data analyzes, the latest artificial intelligence tools (AI) and machine learning tools.

Using our artificial intelligence research, we make these solutions better for Google Cloud customers all over the world.

Our research dismantles written documents, enhances the value of wind energy, and is easy to use alphafold – our AI system designed to better predict protein structures.

Expanding the innovation of products through the artificial intelligence document

From cuneiform tablets to a printing press, endless methods have been developed to exchange written knowledge throughout history. Modern documents differ between countries, languages and industries – which makes it difficult to extract and use this information, especially on a large scale.

The Google Cloud AI document allows users to create digital, printed or handwritten information in a document – such as the bill or a tax form – extractable and inquiries.

Before the artificial intelligence document, the industries looking to use artificial intelligence tools to understand documents needed huge amounts of training data for good performance. But these data are often not available, incomplete or lacking the appropriate explanatory suspension, which prevents the adoption of artificial intelligence on a large scale.

By working with the Google Cloud Document Ai team, we have developed an innovative educational machine models that need 50-70 % less training data than others to analyze documents such as utility bills and purchase orders.

We also improve the performance of Document AI in languages that contain smaller data collections. In this way, we can help more customers in various industries and geography to take advantage of the benefits of Document AI.

Enhancing the value of wind energy

As part of our efforts to use artificial intelligence to achieve net zero emissions by 2030, we partnership with Google Cloud Professal Services to develop the wind energy sector-to help build a carbon-free future for everyone.

Wind farms are an important source of carbon -free electricity, but their production can fluctuate depending on the weather. To balance supply and demand in the electricity network, operators depend on power generation expectations. If operators can adhere to selling a certain amount of electricity based on the expectations of the next day, they can get a better price.

In cooperation with the Google Cloud, we helped develop the AI tool for better predicting wind output. This tool has been trained on weather forecast and historical rural turbines for the customer. An additional model recommends the amount of energy that the operator can adhere to by connecting to the electricity network, one day before.

The global energy resource for renewable energy and renewable hardware is now experimenting with this technology in Germany. If the pilot succeeds, Engie may apply technology throughout Europe. Economic wind energy is more attractive – and improves its reliability – will encourage the absorption of renewable energy sources. This is a victory for everyone.

Make Alphafold easier to use with Vertex AI

The development of a new automatic learning model includes several stages – from design to publication. It also needs a good infrastructure for data. To support data scientists and companies, Google Cloud built Vertex AI, one platform for accessing machine learning tools for each step of the development trip.

After release of our alphafold system, which precisely predicts the 3D structure of proteins, we made it available on Vertex Ai. Now, scientists working in a variety of areas such as detection of drugs or fighting plastic pollution can run the alphafold prediction work more easily by tracking experiments, improving devices selection – and all this is widely managed.

In 2022, we also expanded the alphafold protein database to include almost all -known indexing proteins. We have made a partnership with Google Cloud to host this huge database, as it provided more than 200 million proteins for wholesale download. The billions of structures are already downloaded and the database soon became an essential tool for the scientific community, Motivating a new wave of progress in biology.
