PM Modi hosts US Vice President Vance, hails ‘fruitful’ talks and trade progress

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the Vice president of the United States, JD Vance, along with the second lady, Osha Vans, their children, and senior members of the American administration, at his official residence in New Delhi.

The two leaders reviewed and evaluated the progress made positively in various areas of bilateral cooperation. They welcomed the great progress in the negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement from India and benefiting from both parties, noting that it focuses on the welfare of the inhabitants of both countries.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in an official statement: “The Prime Minister recalled his pride in his visit to Washington, DC in January and his fruitful discussions with President Trump, which put the road map for close cooperation between India and the United States, and benefited from the strengths in making America a great (Maga) and Vixet Bharat 2047,” said the Prime Minister’s office in an official statement.

In addition to the trade, Prime Minister Modi and Vice President Vans admitted continuous cooperation in the main strategic sectors, including energy, defense and advanced technologies.

They also exchanged views on a group of regional and global issues of mutual interest, confirming that dialogue and diplomacy should be the guidelines in dealing with international challenges.

Moody also conveyed his greetings to US President Donald Trump and expressed his enthusiasm for his upcoming visit to India later this year. The statement indicated that “the Prime Minister conveyed his warm greetings to President Trump and said that he is looking forward to his visit to India later this year.”

The meeting comes at a time when US President Donald Trump imposed and then stopped the customs tariffs on imports from more than 70 countries, including India. India and the United States are actively negotiating a bilateral trade agreement aimed at addressing tariff barriers and enhancing market access.

Thin -level discussions between Moody and Fans are seen as part of a wider batch to achieve stability and deepen economic relations, especially since both countries seek to harmonize strategic interests.

finance Minister Nermalla Sitraman said on Sunday that India is “actively participating” with the United States and hopes to conclude the first segment of the “positively” bilateral trade agreement by the fall of (September to October) this year.

“We are one of the countries that actively participate with the new administration of the United States of America to find out the best through which we can obtain a bilateral trade agreement,” she said during an interaction with Indian diaspora in San Francisco.
