Tesla begins ‘FSD Supervised’ ride-hail tests with employees in Austin, Bay Area

Tesla began testing its autonomous ruling service with employees in Austin and the Gulf region before the planned Robotaxi is launched this summer.

“The horseback service under the supervision of a group of early employees in the Austin & San Francisco Bay area,” published the company on Wednesday on X.

FSD means “full self -driving”, which is a TESLA advanced driver assisting system available to Tesla owners via subscription that can perform some automatic driving tasks. The system, which requires the driver to keep his hands on the wheel, was not yet able to drive independently. Thousands of Tesla owners are already driving themselves with the supervisory FSD. On Wednesday, the Tesla Declaration focuses on adding the “Robotaxi” app that will be used theoretically by non -Tesla owners to welcome a fleet.

The transfer of employees before launch is a record procedure in the world of independent horse riding. For example, Waymo uses a similar book when he enters a new market. In the period that reaches a commercial launch and after weeks of testing without a driver, Waymo will open its service to employees before inviting some members of the public.

Tesla plans to launch the Robotaxi service in Austin in June, which the company repeated on Tuesday during its profit call in the first quarter. The auto industry has not participated in many other details about the call, such as when you expect to start imposing charging for riding. The CEO of Elon Musk Colors was to say that he expected 10 to 20 vehicles on the “first day” of service in Austin.

Although Tesla sprayed last year after its first appearance in the concept of Cybercab-is a future roboty, which was built without a driving wheel or pedals-and is about to start operations with its current wallet of vehicles.

The Tesla promotional video, which was shared on Wednesday, shows a 3 sedan that was supplied with a screen at the back for travelers who display information such as the estimated time to access, climate and musical controls, and an emergency stopp.

“The safety driver is present for supervision and intervention only when necessary. FSD (underlined) does not make the car independent.”

In January, Musk said that there will be no drivers in cars to launch Austin in Tesla, which will depend on the “non -supervision” version that has not yet been released. He also said at the time that Tesla would publish the non -subject to overseeing Tesla owners in California and other markets this year.

It is not clear whether Tesla is still planning to launch a fully independent service in Austin from the first day, or whether Tesla will take a more measure by maintaining a safety driver in the front seat for safety reasons.

In California, independent car companies need a set of permits for work. To date, Tesla has not only a testing permit independently with the safety driver.
