Albertsons Companies says grocery chain is not accepting tariff price hikes

The second largest chain of grocery in America has warned its suppliers that the retailer would not accept the high prices related to tariffs due to President Donald Trump’s comprehensive policies.

Albertsons, which runs more than 2,200 stores across the country – including kings, Balducci, Safeway and Randalls – have informed their suppliers to modernize politics in the speech last month, according to the American Economic Liberties project Researcher Matt Stoller.

The supermarket said the update was made to keep the products at competitive prices.

“With a few exceptions, we do not accept the increase in cost due to the definitions,” said the Idahu state in the letter.

“Suppliers are not allowed to include costs related to tariffs in bills without prior permission by Albertsons,” Follow Alberstons. “Any bills that include such fees without prior permission will be subject to the conflict and may lead to delaying payment.”

Food and drug retail stores, which have achieved $ 80.4 billion in sales during the fiscal year 2024, run their stores in 34 states and province of Colombia.

SuperMarket Giant runs 20 well-known signs, including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-OSCO, Shaw’s, Acme, Tom Thumb, Randalls, UNITED SuperMarkets, Bavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs and Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s Food Market.

It is still unclear how the company’s suppliers’ reaction to the new policy was or how they plan to accommodate the additional costs.

In recent weeks, Trump has imposed a 10 % essential tariff on goods imported from almost every major American trading partner in an attempt to support American -made goods and drug brakes to the country.

As a result, it is expected that imported products such as avocado, alcohol, coffee and seafood are more expensive for the American consumer.
