Donald Trump said he would slap a 100 percent tariff for all films that were produced abroad, and expanding his commercial war to the film industry in order to thwart what he described as “very fast death” for Hollywood.

This US president announced this social truth platform on Sunday night while returning to Washington from the weekend in his resort in Mar Lago in Florida, although he did not provide more details.

“The film industry in America dies very quickly. Other countries offer all types of incentives to attract filmmakers and our studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other regions within the United States of America, are destroyed.”

Los Angeles has seen other American states, as well as countries like Canada and the United Kingdom, exfoliates the production of films from California in recent years.

Gavin Newose, the California Democratic Governor, has suggested the tax incentive plan to support the state’s film production, but Trump is looking for definitions instead to international competition.

Trump added that he will allow the US Department of Trade and commercial representative “to start immediately in the process of creating a 100 % tariff on any and all films coming to our country that is produced in foreign lands.”

He concluded: “We want to make films in America, again!”

While Trump had stopped a experimental tariff that he suggested last month on a wide range of imports until July – he gave his officials time to try to negotiate commercial deals with countries around the world – he maintained fees that affect specific industries such as cars and pharmaceutical preparations. It was not clear how the drawings would be applied to movies.

The Animation Association refused to comment.

Trump’s plan to implement the customs tariff for foreign films came amid an explosion from social media in which the American president also called for the reopening of the famous Catrazing prison, which was closed for more than 60 years.

The US President said that the Catrazing, which is located on an island off the coast of San Francisco, needs to be “expanded and rebuilding” to house “the most ruthless and violent perpetrators in America.”

“The reopening of the katraz will be a symbol of law, order and justice,” Trump wrote about the social truth.

The statement attracted a rapid reprimand from Nancy Pelosi, a former spokesman for the House of Representatives and Democratic actor from California.

In a post on X, Pelosi said that the president’s proposal is “not dangerous.”

“I closed Alcatraz as a federal prison for more than sixty years. It is now a very popular national park and a major tourist attraction.”
