Green hydrogen purchase obligations must achieve 2030 target: Industry body

He said that India is the hydrogen alliance, that the development of the current green hydrogen project is less than 1 % of the national green hydrogen mission of 5 million metric tons by 2030, and 80 billion dollars in hydrogen investments at risk without support.
In an official submission of the government that suggests the purchase of hydrogen (HPOS) and the side support of the refineries and ammonia factories, the Hydrogen Alliance in India (IH2A) suggested 10 % HPO for current plants and 100 % HPO for new plants by 2030, to achieve the NGHM 2030 goal of green hydrogen 1.5 MT for home use in India.
The electricity bit of electricity installed in India is currently less than 40 MW producing 10600 million tons annually of green hydrogen, which represents less than 1 % of the NGHM 2030 goal of 1.5 million tons for local consumption.
The coalition stated that HPOS is necessary to achieve the NGHM 2030 goals and protect the public announced for hydrogen investments exceeding $ 80 billion in India. According to IH2A, without HPOS support and demand support, the planned hydrogen factories and display projects risk the assets that have been cut off.
IH2A HPOS has suggested to replace the current gray hydrogen industrial hydrogen with green hydrogen, such as raw materials in the refinery and ammonia sectors, through 47 proposed and proposed factories in India. The IH2A proposed HPOS is divided into the following:
“The government must look at least 10 % until 2030,” said Amtt Singh Dio, IH2A Secretariat.
“Once HPOS entered, India can look at the Japan contract against the difference (CFD) of part of the transmission of green hydrogen through the refinery and ammonia sector by 2030, and reduce carbon emissions in these two sectors that are difficult to do so,” he said.
IH2A is estimated to allocate an additional budget for CFD with a value of $ 2 billion, for refineries and fertilizers, can support all current filter and fertilizer factories to 10 % of HPO OffTAKE and all new plants to 100 % HPO by 2030.
