Volvo recalls more than 450,000 cars over backup camera issue

Volvo Cars, the Swedish auto manufacturer, remembers more than 450,000 cars in the United States and Canada due to the backup camera problem that raises the risk of injury.

The image of the rear vision camera may not appear when the affected cars are placed in the opposite direction, which increases the possibility of an accident.

Volvo 413151 recalls cars in the United States and 40,673 in Canada. These include certain models from 2021 to 2025 XC40, 2022 V90 and 2022 to 2025 S90, V90CC, C40, XC60, 2023 to 2025 S60, V60CC and XC90, speakers said.

To fix the problem, the auto company will upgrade a program on vehicles. The program can be updated, for free, by Volvo agent or by updating by air-update service from remoteness in which the program can be downloaded directly to your car, according to Volvo.

Volvo did not receive any reports of accidents that occur during driving or disruption related to the issue of backup camera, according to the summons notification on May 1 of the National Traffic Safety Administration on highways.

“We encourage customers to contact the accredited retail and complete this summons repair as soon as possible,” Volvo said.

The notification letters are expected to be sent to Volvo owners on June 24. Volvo owners who are affected can also contact the Volvo customer service or communicate with the hot road safety line on highways.

The summons comes a week after the POLESTAR Electric Maker is summoned by more than 27,000 Polestar 2 vehicles in the United States due to a similar problem.
