PlanetPlay’s Play2Act poll finds 79% make positive change after playing green games

Planetplay announced that the data derived from a new survey in the game called Play2act showed evidence that games have the ability to stimulate green habits between the players.

The poll found that 79 % of the respondents who played games with green messages or environmental content reported at least one positive behavioral change after playing these games.

Among these players, 47 % report reduces their environmental impact through the use of energy or public transportation, while 34 % of reports make consumption options more green.

Play2ACT was launched in September 2024, an guaranteed survey of popular games, designed to explore the role of games in treating natural crises. The initiative was developed by Planetplay, a non -profit platform that contributes to environmental work through games, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

More than 181,000 players from 189 countries, including 70 developed countries or a small developing country on the island, have responded to a series of Play2act reconnaissance questions placed in 24 famous games such as metro surfers, Beatstar, Pokemon Go! And Avakin Life, among others.

The poll benefited from reaching 80 million players per week. Questions aim to collect players ’views about their experiences with green games, their impact on behavior and a sense of climate and environmental action.

20 studios and games platforms participated in the Play2ACT initiative, including Actrio, Bandai Namco, CM Games, E-Line Media, FutureVision, Funlplus, Hutch, Jagex, Lockwood, Microsft/Xbox Insider, Niantic, RLIANCE, Rovio, Space App Games, SYBO and Ten Speed.

Play2ct survey also contributes to “games that have been achieved with effective and emotional transformation”, with the funding of the horizon and innovation in the European Union and innovation in the United Kingdom. It aims to involve the gaming community – entities and studios – in addressing climate crises and nature by exploring how games are led on social participation and stirring new dialogues for positive change.

While the participation of gaming studios will analyze Play2ct Survey data to enhance measures and procedures within the industry, the United Nations Development Program aims to use the total results to better understand global opinion on normal work and natural work, with a special interest in young and southern generations.
