‘This is natural’ – Nottingham Forest owner justifies Nuno Espirito Santo bust-up

The owner of Nutingham Forest, Evanjelus Marinakis, defended the confrontation of director Nuno Espritto Santo on the field after a 2-2 draw on Sunday with Leicester City, describing his frustration as “natural”.

Forest received late foxes that were already resolved and are now facing an arduous battle to qualify for the Champions League. The clouds guaranteed that they will play European football of some kind in the coming season, but the Nuno team is now sitting in seventh place in the Premier League standings while leaving two games to play.

The disappointment at the team’s performance witnessed that the Marinaches leave the stands and enter the field after the final whistle of an uncomfortable exchange with Nuno – a move that attracted great criticism from the fans on social media.

In the endeavor to defend his actions, Marinakis suggested the confusion surrounding the injury of striker Tayo Aouni, who came as a late alternative, but soon chose a problem that turned him effectively into a passenger for the remainder of the game, was behind his frustrated decision.

“Today is a day to celebrate, because after 30 years, Nottingham Forest is now guaranteed to compete on the European stage again – a promise that I made to our supporters when we achieved the promotion!” Marinakis said.

“With two other games to go in the Premier League, we must continue to believe and dream, directly in the final kick in the final match. We are very proud and close to Nuno and the team, and we must all celebrate the historical achievements of this season.

“Everyone – the training team, the players, and supporters, including me – we felt frustrated about Taio’s injury and the medical staff miscalculation of Tayo’s ability to continue the game.

“This is normal, this is evidence of the emotion we feel for our club. Let us all grateful and emotional and continue the dream!”

Instead of replacing Awoniyi in the dead embers, Forest changed a different change as Jota Silva came on Elliot Anderson in the 91st minute, despite the fact that the attacker barely had running after colliding with this position.

“It was a disappointment for everyone. Unfortunately, we had to play in the last ten minutes with one lower man. R. [Awoniyi] “He gave her the go, but it was very painful for the team to really pay and help the team,” Nuno said.

“There was a misunderstanding between the training staff and the medical department. We had the heads up to make a branch, then try but he could not.”

On the reaction of Marinakis, Nuno added: “[There was] Disappointment and frustration, of course. But because of the owner and his passion, we can grow as a club. Paying us. He wants us to be better. He is his passion and desire to be a big club – 30,000 people’s hair the same day. Certainly, many of them will go on the field and shake us.

“We are a club, we are very debtor to the Marinakis family.
