County executive hits Trump admin over sanctuary jurisdiction designation

In a statement responding to the inclusion of Montgomery Maryland’s province on a list in the judicial states in the United States in the United States, Mark Eleich accused the provincial executive director of the Trump administration of seeking to criminalize migrants and “create fear”.

President Donald Trump issued an executive order calling for a list of judicial states. The Ministry of National Security issued the list on Thursday, noting the administration in a post on X.

“We are not in violation of federal law, and we will not make changes based on political newspapers. Montgomery has always cooperated with the enforcement of immigration and customs (ICE) in cases that involve violent crimes, serious crimes, and threats to public safety. This was our bad and still our policy.”

“This appointment, like many other measures taken by this administration, revolves around criminalizing migrants, not public safety protection. We will not be complicit in efforts to mark or target our migrant societies,” the Democrats announced. “These types of ads are designed to create fear. But we do not judge fear in Montgomery. We judge the law and our values.”

The enforcement of immigration and customs in the United States (ICE) announced the arrest of a member of MS-13 in a press release earlier this month, pointing to multiple cases of the Montegamerri County detention center who failed to honor immigration detainees for the individual over the years, including only last month.

“The Montgomery Provincial Court in Rockeville condemned Amaya by stealing cars on April 4, and he was sentenced to three years in prison with a two -year suspension, five months and 11 days,” noted by Nelson Vladimiri Benitz. “On April 18, the Montgomery County detention center again refused to honor the ICE immigration detainee and released Amaya from reservation.”

The Director of Reform and Rehabilitation in Montgome County admitted the “error”.

“This person meets the criteria that we use to notify and coordinate ICE because of the condemnation of a previous felony and membership of the gang that was validated in the Docr records. We failed to provide this notice. We bear full responsibility for this error,” he said in a statement. “Montgomery has constantly stated that we are cooperating with ice in cases that involve individuals convicted of violent crimes, verified gang members, drug distributors, merchants and other criminal condemnation. This policy is still ongoing.”
