Ongoing cyberattack at US grocery distributor giant UNFI affecting customer orders

UNICED GROCEDIEDUTION GIANT United Nature Foods (Infi) said on Tuesday that it is working to restore its capabilities after an electronic attack last week continues to disable the grocery supply chain.

Unsi said as part of the third quarter profit report that she was “managed hard through the internet incident” that he confirmed on Monday. Sandy Douglas, CEO of UNFI, said in prepared statements that “the company is helping our customers to short -term solutions whenever possible.”

At the company’s conference after the accuracy, Douglas said UNFI “continues to restore our systems safely online and restore customer service on a large scale as soon as possible.”

The company, which is the primary distributor of the Amazon -owned While Foods, provides more than 250,000 grocery store products including frozen goods, which revealed on Monday that it has been determined unauthorized access to its information technology systems. Douglas said in his call on Tuesday that the company had completely closed its network.

The company did not describe the nature of electronic attacks, but it said that infiltration was causing continuous disturbances in its operations, including its ability to fulfill and distribute customer orders.

Douglas told the call in the call that the company was shipping to customers “on a limited basis.”

One of the customers told Unfi Techcrunch that they are trying a new product in Whole Foods this week, but they said that many of their supplies had not been delivered. The customer said that they had not heard anything from the foods that are not available or complete about the disorder.

Techcrunch heard anecdotal reports of decreasing or empty shelves in some of the unlikely stores of UNFI, but it is not immediately clear whether this is due to the electronic attack or other supply chain problems. A large part of the real world impact may not be seen on grocery stores and customers until later this week.

Whole Foods did not return a request to comment from Techcrunch. Reuters, a fully spokesperson for Foods, was killed as saying that the retail giant was “working to recycle our shelves as soon as possible” and referred additional questions to UNFI.

It is not clear the extent of UNFI on cybersecurity, nor who is eventually responsible for cybersecurity in the company.

UNFI spokesperson did not respond to a comment when contacting him by Techcrunch on Tuesday.

Most external systems facing UNFI are in non -communication mode, including web systems used by suppliers and customers, as well as company VPN products, according to Techcrunch checks.

UNFI reported 8.1 billion dollars of net sales in the quarter ending on May 3, 2025. The company said it expected to report a loss on net income and arrow profits in its view of 2025 after the end of the contract with the “continuous assessments” in the United States in the northeastern United States, but it does not adjust its view of the “continuous evaluation” of Tiberga.
