Scientists Scanned the Brains of Hardcore Gooners and Found Something Ominous

In a new study published in the magazine Borders in human neuroscienceChina’s College of Medicine in China found that people who see many pornography have less cognitive performance and have shown signs of neurological excitement that resemble opioid addiction.

It is new data in a constant debate about whether viewing porn – or how much – affects the perception, emotional organization and our relationships. The battle erupted for years in academic magazines, but it has gained increasing importance as an exciting political and social issue of disagreement in recent years (which complicates matters as well, there is a wide medical consensus that masturbation is healthy.)

Researchers in Chengdu in the “absorbing porn” category with this study. Using an experimental group of 21 different sexes, most of them are male university students – 16 who said in a poll that they are watching the content of adults only sometimes, and five of those who described as they have porn addiction on the Internet “severe” – the team used brain imaging technology to measure how the habit affects perception.

This method of photography is known as the functional spectral analysis close to infrared or FNIRS, and looks at brain activity by narrowing the light close to infrared through the scalp and seeing the amount of its light that the hemoglobin absorbs in the brain.

Using an equipped FNIRS cover and additional tools that recorded facial expressions and vital signs, the researchers looked at the reactions in the brain and the body coming from these 21 students while watching the X section at the level of 10 minutes. Before and after the viewing session – in which the participants were asked not to masturbate, we must notice – the students conducted tests designed to measure the cognitive function.

It turned out that the brain’s brain readings were very different. Porn observers sometimes showed a stronger nervous connection in the brain areas related to language, movement and sensory treatment. Both groups reduced heart rates during the session, but the effect was more clear in the most dedicated consumers. These results are not completely surprising. Although it is clear that he will need more and larger studies to find out what is going on physically and nervously with GOONERS, this research appears to remove the anger of pornography on repeated observers – not to mention a new interesting data point in the discussion about the danger of porn addiction as well.
