De Blasio defends democratic socialist Mamdani’s NYC mayoral primary win

Former New York City mayor Bill de Palacio told “Fox News @ Night” he believed that fears of Zahran Mamdani’s victory in the democratic introductory elections are largely exaggerated.

Mamdani, 33 -year -old Democratic Socialism, was approved by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Okasio Cortez, a victory in the Democratic mayor in New York City on Tuesday after former New York Governor Andrew Como received the race.

Although the rank of the race will still need to determine a number of ranks on July 1, the policy proposals followed by Mamdani have caused his anger among the most moderate Democrats.

De Placio underestimated these concerns, on the pretext that many of Mamdani’s proposals – such as creating free bus networks, expanding groceries and carrying out the anti -lease – were tried in other cities.

“These are not amazing ideas,” said De Pacio.

“I just think there is a lot of exaggeration here. We will not see people leaving in large numbers,” said De Palacio. “They said this would happen when I became a mayor. It didn’t happen. I don’t buy it.”

De Placio, who served as the mayor of New York City between 2014 and 2022, argued that Mamdani’s success was due to his focus on “kitchen table issues” – which the Democrats paid for the price of forgetting in the 2024 election session.

“Here is a person who has already talked throughout the day about the ability to withstand costs, he talked about the rent. He talked about the basics of life, food, everything is struggling to meet their needs,” said De Pacio.

The former mayor predicted that the police would not be blocked under the possible Mamdani administration.
