New Jersey to evolve into top film destination: NJDEA CEO

Hollywood in Hollywood remains like Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Michael B. Jordan and New Jersey are a reality for its starring roots, and it has become one of the most desirable cinematic destinations in the country in recent years.

Tim Sullivan, CEO of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, who took over the role in 2018, told Fox Business that the emerging influence of the state’s film industry exceeds the A-List and BOXZz menu.

“Cinema and television started in New Jersey, returning a day under the leadership of Thomas Edison, in Fort Lee, New Jersey. We were Hollywood before there was Hollywood,” said Sullivan. “We return ourselves to the top of the package with great investments, because we see a huge economic opportunity here. It is fun to be celebrities running in filmmaking, but it is truly influential for small companies, building workers and sellers who support the industry.”

Netflix recently dismantled in May in its billion dollar project, which is expected to turn the Fort Monmout army to turn into a production studio of approximately 500,000 feet. Lionsgate has also announced its 300,000 square feet production facility in Newark in 2022, along with a 1.6 million square film and TV area in Payon.

Los Angeles sees a continuous decrease in films and television production
For Sullivan, the long-term production commitment provided by Netflix, Lionsgate and 1888 Studios-which was named Thomas Edison, achieved the patent of the film’s camera-“a lot of jobs for the residents of New Jersey”.
He added: “carpentry, electricians, specific design, fashion design, hair and makeup, food provision, craft services, security, lighting, all kinds of functions supported by the film industry.”

Sullivan suggested that New Jersey be “the three best destination” as soon as the production studios are ascending. While Lionsgate and Netflix expected the completion dates in 2027 and 2028, respectively, 1888 studios expect the full process by 2026.
New Jersey’s last work to stimulate the film industry comes amid the efforts of the Trump administration to maintain the production of films in America. president Donald Trump announced in early May a plan to impose a 100 % tariff on foreign productive films.
