Openai agreed to rent 4.5 Gigawatts from Oracle computing power in a deal worth about $ 30 billion annually and is one of the largest cloud agreements so far for artificial intelligence.

The deal is a great expansion of the Stargate data project, which was launched with Softbank in January to reach huge amounts of computing power to develop strong artificial intelligence models and meet the demand for consumers on products such as ChatGPT.

Oracle will develop multiple data centers across the United States to meet the new Stargate contract, according to people close to the plans, which Bloomberg was first reported. About 4.5 GB will be equivalent to about a quarter of the current operational data center of the United States.

Openai and SoftBank said that Stargate will invest up to $ 500 billion to create data centers in the United States and global.

The joint project raised about 50 billion dollars away from its founding partners, which also includes Oracle itself and the Abu Dhabi Sovereign MGX box. He did not reveal the amount of this deployed capital.

Earlier this week, the Oracle database group announced that it had signed a single cloud computing of $ 30 billion in the annual revenue that begins in 2028, without naming the customer. People close to the order at Financial Times confirmed that the customer was Openai as part of his expansion in Stargate.

Possible sites of the new data center sites include Texas, Michigan, Weskonsen, Wyoumeng, New Mexico, George, Ouheyu and Pennsylvania, according to the people. Oracle will also expand the Stargate 1.2GW facility in Abilene, Texas, which is developed and funded by Crusoe Center Center.

Oracle shares rose to a record level in the wake of the advertisement, and gathered more on Wednesday. The value of the deal is approximately three times $ 10.3 billion in the annual revenue created by the infrastructure company for the data center in 2025.

Oracle was slow to enter the cloud computing market, but it has witnessed a sharp increase in the demand for the data center as companies seek computing energy to operate artificial intelligence systems.

The company was one of the main beneficiaries of the capacity on competitors including Microsoft, with large technology companies that plow hundreds of billions of dollars in the data center projects to train and operate artificial intelligence models.

Founder Larry Ellison promoted Oracle’s ability to sign large contracts. Its complex relationship with Stargate is part of the bold company’s attempt to compete with Amazon and excessive Microsoft.

Oracle pledged to invest $ 7 billion in the Stargate joint project and plan to spend $ 25 billion in capital expenditures next year, much higher than previous estimates.

Ellison told investors earlier this year. “We will build and operate more cloud infrastructure data centers than all our cloud infrastructure competitors.”

Ellison, a close ally of US president Donald Trump, was on stage at the White House alongside the CEO of Openai Sam Altman and SoftBank Head Masayoshi, earlier this year when the project was announced.

Oracle will buy about 400,000 high -performance GB200 chips in NVIDIA for about $ 40 billion to operate the Abilene Data Center, Texas, according to the Financial Times.

The deal also shows how Openai connects with new cloud service providers to meet the demand for AI products.

Earlier this year, it re -negotiated its commercial conditions with Microsoft, whose exclusive cloud provider was. Microsoft, which is the largest investor in Openai, now has the rejection of the first contracts. The signed cloud deals with Openai with Google and Neocloud Coreweave after the change.

Openai refused to comment. Oracle did not respond to the comment.
