“The way Biden is dealt with with his inability and hesitant exit from the race will be destroyed for his legacy.” During the reign of George W. Bush, he said in an email to Fox News Digital on Thursday. “While Biden was once known as the person who killed the dragon that the Democrats seen as Trump, he will now be known forever as the person who allowed the dragon to return.”
Even after performing the harsh debate, Biden dug in his aftermath and refused to hand the stick immediately to another candidate. Initially, Biden said, along with the White House and his campaign, that ending his career for his re -election was outside the table, and that he wanted to confront Trump in November 2024.
But after calls by the leaders of Democrats, including former senator John, the Montana and Senator Joe Mancin from West Virginia, Biden recently issued a statement claiming to be “in the interest of my party and the country for me to retreat and focus only on fulfilling my duties as head of the rest of my state.”

“I think it is very difficult to separate the fact that it bent from the fact that he did so late and only after his disastrous performance in the discussion,” Alex Kizar, a history professor at Harvard Kennedy College of Policy, said in an email to Fox News. “That’s right now and it will also be true for his legacy for a long time.
“He is seen as a person who made a tremendous mistake – he remains as a candidate when he could withdraw six months ago – and a mistake might cost his party the presidential election,” Kizar said.
A few presidents chose not to run for his re -election, and even fewer than that chose to do so in the middle of a presidential campaign. The departure of the race is the first time that a presidential candidate has done this for nearly 60 years.

However, each of them withdrew the race months before Biden.
“Harry Truman and Lindon Johnson came out of his re -election efforts in late March,” said Troy. “Joe Biden did in late July, throwing the Democratic Party in the turmoil.”
“Although job occupants generally enjoy the advantage of running for his re -election, the history of the current parties after he chooses the job operator to leak late is not great: Truman, Johnson and Biden party lost in both the relevant elections,” said Troy.

The presidential approval rate of Biden was the highest level of 57 % from January 2021 to April 2021 after taking office for the first time, but decreased to 36 % in July 2024, according to Gallup.
However, Keyssar expected that time will reduce public opinion towards Biden’s presidency.
“It is a historian, and given that further in the future, I can imagine that his legacy will become more positive, as other historians and analysts focus on his achievements in his position and basic fitness as a person,” Kizar said.
