The Ministry of Defense plans to build the largest federal immigrant detention facility in the United States so far, in Fort Place in Texas, which is expected to contain up to 5,000 beds for illegal foreigners.
Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson announced the project during a press conference on Thursday, saying that the construction started in July.
“Since then, work has started for the initial detention capacity of 1,000 illegal foreigners with primary operational capacity that is likely to be achieved by mid -August,” Wilson said. “Once DOD achieves the initial stand, we will finish the construction of up to 5,000 beds in the coming weeks and months.”
Wilson said that the facility will become the largest of its kind in our history, as it serves what he called “this critical task: the deportation of illegal foreigners.”

Funding for the project comes from a settlement bill signed by Trump last month, which he referred to as “a large and beautiful bill.”
The Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) said that the legislation funds the 287 (G) program, which facilitates cooperation between the application of immigration and customs (ICE) and local authorities, in addition to 80,000 ICE detention beds.
The Trump administration has continued to deport with unrelated immigrants without additional criminal records to report self.
