Bipartisan lawmakers back Netanyahu’s plan to take over Gaza temporarily

It seems that a couple of Democratic and Republican actors support Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan for Israel to take over Gaza on Sunday.

Cruford has argued that such a plan would be safer for the remaining hostages in the Hamas nursery.

“I think they have a greater danger of death under the current circumstances than if the Israeli Defense Army is taking the action they are talking about,” Kraovord said of the hostages. “Basically, Hamas is starving for them. People talk about hunger in Gaza. Hunger occurs at the hands of Hamas, and it is primarily directed to the hostages who keep it.”

Meanwhile, Gottheimer said that the acquisition by Israel is the “correct answer”, as long as the participation of the Israeli Defense Army is really temporary. He said that Hamas should be fully crushed, but another control structure should be placed.

“The Prime Minister explained that there is no intention to occupy or in the long run, which I think is the correct answer,” he said. “You need to make sure to crush Hamas, you will get humanitarian assistance, then get a new ruler structure.”

Gottheimer added that it is expected that negotiations will lead to a “multinational Arab force” that maintains peace in the long term in Gaza.

Netanyahu and security ministers met the night before the announcement on Friday that Israel had planned to regain control of the entire Gaza lands and eventually surrender to the friendly Arab forces opposing Hamas.

“The Security Council has agreed to the Prime Minister’s proposal to defeat Hamas. The Israeli Defense Army will prepare to control Gaza City while distributing humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat areas,” Netanyahu announced X.

The office said that the security cabinet has adopted, through voting, five principles to conclude the war that include the following: disarmament of Hamas, the return of all hostages – living and deceased, abolishing judges in the Gaza Strip, Israeli security control in the Gaza Strip, and establishing an alternative civil administration that is gas or ethnic authority.

The possibility of the complete military occupation of Gaza comes 20 years after the complete association of Israel from the pocket when the government forcibly removed about 8,600 Jewish people from the region. Soon after, Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections and occupied a violent coup to overthrow the Palestinian Authority and control the Gaza Strip.
