Sam Altman, over bread rolls, explores life after GPT-5

I look at Alcatraz from the Mediterranean Restaurant in San Francisco with a hundred dollars in the list. While talking little with other correspondents, Openai Sam Altman’s CEO is jumping from the door to my left. Despite all the talk about browsers and brain chips, the elephant in the room remained a rough GPT-5 reception. In the end, the conversation returned to the model that prompted our group dinner in the first place.

However, it seems that the GPT-5 did not harm Openai. In fact, Altman said that Openai’s API traffic has doubled within 48 hours of GPT-5 launch, and that the company is “outside graphics processing units” thanks to all demand.

In many ways, the contradictions of the night-disappointing launch operations, and standard use-reflect the strange Openai reality at the present time.

Looking at Openai’s bets on browsers, brain chips, and AI Chatbots – and other companies that the company manufactures around data centers, robots and energy – it is clear that Altman has ambitions in managing a company much larger than the ChatGPT maker. The final model like Google’s parents can look like, but perhaps wider.

When the night ended, it became clear that we have not gathered to think about GPT-5 at all. We have been placed on a company keen to overcome its famous and controversial product.

It seems likely that Openai will publicly become to meet its huge demands in the capital as part of that image. In preparation, I think Altman wants to refine his relationship with the media. But Openai also wants to reach a place that he no longer set through the best AI.
