DoD civilians volunteer for Trump’s border security mission within 48 hours

Civilians in the Ministry of Defense volunteer by hundreds to obtain temporary details with the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS), and they join efforts to support operations on the troubled southern borders under President Donald Trump’s priority to securing them.
In less than 48 hours, approximately 500 volunteers answered the president’s invitation, as the tasks are available via USAJobs.com. Employment agencies include customs protection and border (CBP), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Immigration and Customs enforcement (ICE).
“This is a problem in national security, and civilians have critical skills groups to support DHS in their mission,” said Deputy Assistant Minister of Defense for the policy of Civil Individuals. “We are proud that our civilians are really ready to register.”
Tasks last up to 180 days, providing skills ranging from intelligence analysis to detention support.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security told Fox News Digital that the initiative reflects Trump’s entire approach to removing national security threats, including gang members and terrorists.
A DOD spokesman told Fox News Digital.
“Civilian Defense Civilians – who have already undergone strict scrutiny and have shown their commitment to serving this nation – are invited to volunteer in temporary ICE tasks to help make America safe again and remove national security threats – including gang members and terrorists from our country.”

Civil employees were notified by e -mail earlier this week, and they can apply through USAJobs, after which the Ministry of National Security will coordinate with their agencies for final approval. If approved, candidates can be published within 96 hours.
All employees of the Ministry of Civil Defense can in a good position with at least 90 days in their current agency to apply. The tasks last for up to six months and the roles currently last until September 30, 2026.
Volunteers will provide logistical and technical support, including data entry, planning, processing, linguistics and human resources. The Ministry of Defense employees maintain their salaries and benefits during the mission with eligibility for the additional work time, while gaining experience through agencies and professional development.

“This task is very important, not only for the Ministry of National Security, not only for the Ministry of Defense, but for the entire country,” Kojar said in the memo of the Ministry of Defense on Friday.
“Anyone, any person, can have an impact in the field of strength on DHS customers, allowing them to focus on what they do better, while we can provide this technical support they need in the goal, and the task and outside every day focuses on the safety of our nation.”

The program follows the guidance of Defense Minister Higseth Jun, which also opened DHS positions for retired service members through the Skillbridge program. DOD Skillbridge allows retired service members to obtain “the real world training and work experience in the required work field.”
