A Crypto Micronation Is Making Friends at the White House

When I visited The Free Republic of Liberland in April 2023, on the eighth anniversary, was not much to indicate that the small roles-which had no permanent population, barely any buildings, and a tendency to flood-the right track to achieve its goal of becoming the “most free country on the planet”. But these days, Leberland has friends in high places.

Liberland was founded in 2015 by Vít JedliKa, a euro -like politician from Czech to see European democracies as a strict and transcendent organization. In search of a place to start again, Jedlička encountered a rare plot from the ground that seemed to not belong to any country – Terra NooliusOr there is no land of a man.

Contrary to the border between Serbia and Croatia – a deportation from the solution of Yugoslavia in the 1990s – the creation of the pockets of lands west of Danube, which does not claim any of the nation. On the largest plot, Jedlička planted the flag.

Since then, the Croatian government has repeatedly prevented Libeland’s attempts to settle the region, which it treated as a disputed land. Gidlika, who is the head of Libeland, was arrested by the Croatian Border Police on multiple occasions. During my 2023 visit, I found myself participating in the slow pursuit of the police while sailing in the Danube River towards the region; The Croatian officers designed our boat for nearly two hours of Serbia, and the patrol men waited for anyone who might try to land.

“It is a fake project for a few adventurers,” said the Croatian government previously.

Two years later, the Libeland government believes it may approach a penetration. With the Chinese billionaire of billionaire Justin Sun as Prime Minister, Libeland aims to achieve steps in international diplomacy – especially in the United States – and finally settling the land it claims to possess.

“We took seriously when we have someone like Justin Sun on the plane,” Gidlika claims. “People understand that we are able to raise the entire area.”

The White House, the Croatian and European Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Justin Sun did not respond to the requests for comment.

Over the years, Liberland has been largely funded by the wealthy encryption donors, which was attracted by the possibility of a country based on the same liberal principles on which Crypto was founded. Liberalland has released itself as an encryption currency – one as a way to exchange and the other to vote in the elections – and developed its national Blockchain.

Sun was first elected as Prime Minister of Liberland in October. Since then, he has been re -elected on three other occasions, in the votes held every three months.

“The Vatican city also represents a central spiritual authority for Catholics, Libeland will be the heart of the liberation movement,” Sun wrote on X, after it was first elected. “Each place everywhere in their own countries and their humanitarian countries may have, but Libeland will work as a homeland of their ideology.”

For Liberalland, Sun can prove that it is a very useful political ally.
