Police intensify crackdown on Birmingham gambling dens amid rising exploitation risks
Police in Birmingham says they are intensifying efforts to close illegal gambling dens throughout the city, warning that these places endanger visitors.
The Birmingham team targets crime and exploitation (SOCEX) and the fear of unorganized gambling, which officers say are often associated with wider criminal activity. The press statement explained, “Not only that, but they have found our officers who attend the gambling nights in such buildings at the risk of exploitation and adding additional financial harm.”

Police revealed evidence of cheating in some games, as it was claimed that criminals used secret infrared cameras to track specially specified cards on poker tables. “This information is then transferred to someone on the table, in order to deceive people of money,” the statement said, adding that investigations are continuing.
Fears of the weaknesses that are attracted to these places have also arisen. And the force warned: “Unfortunately, we know that students abroad are often targeted by organized criminals who gain influence during the illegal gambling nights, and sometimes they mourn them in other criminal activities.”
West Midlands police warned of a wider case in Birmingham
So far this year, West Midlands Police says it has imposed a closure in four illegal gambling sites. On Bishop Street Street, West Midlands Fire Service Den closed after finding unsafe conditions inside. On another location on LadyWell Walk, we have informed that the officers seized large sums of money, category A and B drugs, weapons and gaming machines in July.
But the police believe the problem is wider. “We know that the illegal gambling nights are present in a variety of buildings, and those who are always attending are not aware of the dangers surrounding them.”
SOCEX and Operationly Loveless now works with City Center and other agencies to determine those who benefit from trade and protect people who are exploited.
The police invite the public to help. The statement said: “In order to continue to dismantle these operations, we need to help you.
