Hiring managers are paralyzed by Trump’s tariffs and Powell’s rate hikes, JOLTS report reveals

American employers registered 7.2 million job jobs in July with the continued cooling of the American labor market.

The Ministry of Labor stated on Wednesday that job openings decreased from 7.4 million in June and came modestly less than what economists expected. Health care and social assistance companies cut off 181,000 and retail dealers by 110,000.

Jolets surveyed and wiping work showed that workers’ layoffs have risen slightly. The number of Americans who left their jobs has not changed – a sign of confidence in their ability to find better wages, opportunities or working conditions elsewhere – as of 3.2 million June.

Job openings remain at health levels, but have decreased steadily since they reached a score of 12.1 million in March 2022, as the American economy fell from Covid-19s.

The US labor market has lost momentum this year, partly due to the ongoing effects of 11 interest rates by federal inflation fighters in 2022 and 2023 and partly because president Donald Trump’s wars created the uncertainty that paralyzes employees who make employment decisions.

Friday, the Ministry of Labor will put out unemployment and employment numbers for August. They are expected to explain that companies, government agencies and non -profit organizations added approximately 80,000 jobs last month, according to a survey by FactSet. This would represent a humble improvement on the 73,000 disappointments that they created in July.

Worse than dull employment numbers in July, the Ministry of Labor’s reviews that reduced 258,000 amazing jobs in May and June. Trump was angry at bad numbers by launching the head of the work statistics office, the technocratic agency that collects statistics, and an ideal partisan nomination to replace it.

To date this year, the economy generates 85,000 jobs per month, a decrease from 168,000 in the past year and 400,000 average on average during the recruitment boom in 2021-2023.

At the time of uncertainty, employers are less likely to employ them, but they do not allow workers to leave as well.

On a social media, the chief economist in the Federal Maritle Credit Federation indicated that job openings in July came to less than the number of unemployed (7.24 million) for the first time since April 2021.
