The South Korean government has reached an agreement with the United States to secure the launch of hundreds of migrant workers detained at a Hyundai cars factory, Georgia.
Internal security investigations said 475 people were illegally in the country, especially from South Korea, who were arrested as part of the operation in the battery factory under construction. Hyundai owns the factory, but it has not been claimed that no workers have been employed directly by the company.
President Li Jae Meonging’s office says the country will send a rented plane to return workers to South Korea in the coming days.
The South Korea Foreign Ministry issued a statement last week to express “anxiety and remorse” on the raid.

Some of the detained workers had crossed the American border illegally, while others entered the country legally, but they have finished visas or entered a visa that prevented them from working.
HSI said that some of the detained workers have been working by the subcontracting contractors at the construction site, which has been suspended since then. Fox News Digital stated that ICE and other law enforcement agencies were part of the process.
