Trump advisor Kevin Hassett opposes presidential influence on Federal Reserve

The Grand Finance Office Committee is discussing the decision of President Donald Trump to shoot the ruler of the Federal Reserve, Lisa Cook, due to the allegations of fraud in the mortgage.
The director of the National Economic Council, Kevin Haysit, said on Sunday that Federal Reserve Monetary policy decisions should not be subject to political influence amid the Trump administration’s calls to the Central Bank to reduce interest rates.
Hasit appeared in the face of CBS News. ”The host Margaret Brennan cited a CBS poll, which was found that 70 % of Americans wanted the Federal Reserve to make decisions independently of President Donald Trump, although 59 % of Republicans wanted the Federal Reserve to be guided by what Trump wanted. Then Haytit asked about the camp where he was falling.
“If you are in this poll, I say 100 % that monetary policy, the monetary policy of the federal reserve, needs to be completely independent of political influence,” said Haset.
“Including President Trump,” he added in response to a follow -up question from Brennan.

“The truth is that we looked at the countries that allowed leaders to control central banks, and what tends to happen is that An inflation recipe “The misery of consumers, and so on, the independence of the central bank is some – as I saw, there was a hearing this week on that, that Democrats, Republicans and the White House agreed on all of them,” he said.
“Now, the question is, was the current central bank independent as we would like, transparency as we would like? I think there is some conflict about that,” Haysit said.

Haysit’s comments come at a time when President Trump and his allies are pressing the Federal Reserve to reduce interest rates, which the administration says will stimulate economic growth with the low cost of America’s debt service, which is worth more than $ 37 trillion.
The President has repeatedly threatened to shoot the Federal Reserve Speaker Jerome Powell, who appointed him in this role in 2017, although he retracted those threats with the Powell state as president ending in May 2026.

Bill Polly, director of Trump’s ally and director of the Federal Housing Agency, has provided criminal referrals targeting the Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on charges of defrauding the alleged mortgage. Cook has not been charged with a crime and the Ministry of Justice investigated PULTE referrals.
After Cook rejected the resignation amid calls from Polati and Trump to do so, the President fired it, noting the allegations that it is sufficient to remove the “cause.”
The federal law that rules the central bank does not allow the president to remove the ruler of the Federal Reserve Bank except for the cause, which is usually explained as a poor manner of misconduct.
