IPO-bound Flipkart gains key approvals to relocate to India

Flipkart takes into account the advanced stages to secure the regulatory approvals to transfer its headquarters from Singapore to India, with the targeted transition later this year, learning Techcrunch, where the Walmart e -commerce giant is preparing for the Indian IPO next year.

Redomicing has obtained approvals in principle from the Singapore Court, while many hearings were already conducted in the National Appeals Court in India (NCLAT). Flipkart works to complete the transition during the next two months, and is compatible with the holiday season in India – a critical sales period – and the basis for a general inclusion is expected early in 2026.

The transfer of their base to the homeland helps companies comply with advanced local regulations and meet the requirements of local stock lists. It is also logical to take advantage of the public markets in India, due to the dilated retail investor base and the appetite for high subscriptions. The trend reflects the increasing maturity and the attractiveness of capital markets in India compared to external alternatives.

The people said that Flipkart started the operation in India and Singapore simultaneously more than two and a half months ago, after the Board of Directors agreed to transfer its headquarters in April.

In 2022, Walmart -backed Phonepe, which separated from Flipkart in late 2022, moved its headquarters from Singapore to India. FINTECH submitted secret public subscription papers with a market organizer in India, the Securities Council and the Stock Exchange in India (SEBI), earlier this week. Modern reports indicate that Phonepe aims to raise $ 120 billion (about $ 1.35 billion) through the offer.

Startups, including Zepto and GRETW, have transferred their headquarters to India in recent months while preparing for the public on Indian stock exchanges. It is worth noting that GROTW is scheduled to become the first Indian startup to be locally listed after the formulation of the United States, with the expectation of public subscription later this year.

Flipkart’s transformation from its headquarters in Singapore comes more than a year after the 350 million dollar collection of Google as part of a funding round of approximately one billion dollars began in 2023. The company’s value was 36 billion dollars in its latest investment, making it more valuable to do a redesign.
