Manchester United unveil plans to build £2bn 100,000-seater stadium to replace Old Trafford

Manchester United has revealed plans to build a completely new stadium, which includes 100,000 seats, which will be the largest in the UK.
The proposed project, which costs at least 2 billion pounds, will be built next to Old Trafford.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co -owner of Red Devils, is imagining development as “the largest football stadium in the world”, where the club aims to end over the next five years.
This decision follows discussions on whether the current Old Trafford will be renewed or at a completely new construction.
Since its opening in 1910, Old Trafford has been the land of Manchester United. However, the increasing concerns about its aging’s infrastructure have paid discussions about the future of the club’s stadium.
The leading architectural company Foster and Partners was chosen to design the new stadium. The project will have an innovative structure similar to the umbrella.
“This should be one of the most exciting projects in the world today. Everything begins with the experience of fans, making them closer to ever to the stadium and planting a huge roar.
“The stadium is contained by a vast umbrella, the harvest of power and rain water, and it respects a new public square with twice the size of the Travalger box.”
Although it is currently a billion pounds of debt, Manchester United has not yet confirmed how they intend to finance the project. The stadium is scheduled to be the focus of a broader redevelopment plan for the Old Trafford region, which is expected to compete with the transformation of Stratford before the 2012 London Olympics.
According to the club, the project can generate 92,000 new jobs, facilitate the construction of 17,000 homes, and attract 1.8 million additional visitors to the region annually. The economic impact is expected to reach 7.3 billion pounds annually for the UK economy.
Ratcliffe expressed the plans, saying: “Today it represents the beginning of an incredibly exciting journey to deliver what will be the greatest stadium in the world.
“We have served our current stadium brilliantly over the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the squares in the sports world.
“I think we may end with the world’s most famous football stadium.”
Although Old Trafford is still the largest stadium of the club in England with a capacity of 74,140, concerns about the aging condition have increased in recent years. Issues such as the roof leakage in the position of Sir Bobby Charlton have confirmed the need to redeem.
As part of their research, the united officials of experts participating in the major stadium projects, including Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles and the recent renewal of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Real Madrid.
The club also sought to obtain inputs from the local population and fans through a survey to determine whether the supporters prefer a new building or intense redevelopment for the current stadium.
The future of Old Trafford is still uncertain. Although some have speculated that it can be reused for women’s and youth teams in United, the club’s informed suggested that the stadium reduce the size of such use will not be costly effective.
Foster and Partners, famous for their work in major sports places, previously designed Wembley Stadium, which was opened in 2007, and Lusail Stadium, which is the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar.
Away from Old Trafford will be a big change for many, but the former director Sir Alex Ferguson supports the initiative. He said: “Manchester United always must strive to achieve the best in everything it does, inside and outside the stadium, and it includes the stadium in which we play.
“Old Trafford holds many memories for me personally, but we must be brave and seize this opportunity to build a new house, suitable for the future, where history can be made.”
