Apple removes ICE tracking app after pressure from Bondi DOJ

First on the fox: Apple iceblock, a widely used tracking tool, dropped from its application store on Thursday after the Ministry of Justice raised concerns with the large technology giant that offers the application the safety of law enforcement staff.

The Ministry of Justice officials, in the direction of the Public Prosecutor Pam Bondi, asked Apple to drop iCeblock, a step that comes as Trump administration officials claimed that the tracking tool puts law enforcement officers in danger and helps protect illegal immigrants.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Bondi confirmed that the administration contacted Apple to withdraw the application on Thursday and that the company complied.

Bondi said: “We have contacted Apple today demanding the removal of the iCEBLOCK application from their application store – and I did it,” Bondi said. “Iceblock is designed to put ICE agents at risk just to take their functions, and violence against law enforcement is an unbearable red line. This Ministry of Justice will continue to make every effort to protect brave federal law enforcement employees, who risk their lives every day to maintain their safe safety.”

The controversy surrounding the applications of ice tracking after the deadly shooting last month in a field office of the ice in Dallas, the latest in a series of attacks that seemed to be targeting the enforcement officers.

The authorities said that the suspect, Joshua Jean, searched his phone to track the applications, including iCeblock, before opening fire on the facility from the surface. The authorities said that Jean killed one of the detainees and left two serious injuries, but the employees were his intended goals, not the immigrants. One of the injured, a 32 -year -old husband and a four -year -old, died this week.

Marcus Charles, the Acting Director of ICE removal operations, said at a press conference that Jean intends to kill ICE staff and that the attacks on them have risen.

“The evidence is clear that this was intended as an attack on ice employees who come to work every day to do their job,” Charles said. “The violent speech has increased more than 1000 % in attacks on ice officers and should stop.”

Apple said in a statement that it has removed iceblock and other applications like it.

Apple said: “We have created the application store to be a safe and reliable place to discover the applications,” Apple said.

“He feels incredibly disappointed by Apple’s behavior today,” said Joshua Haroun, the Iceblock Creator.

Haroun said: “Surrendering to an authoritarian system is never the right step,” Harun said. “Apple has claimed that it had received information from the law application that iceblock worked to harm law enforcement employees. This is a clear mistake.”
