How Chicago Fire Wrote Off Daniel Kyri’s Ritter After Cast Exits

Chicago fire to cross out Daniel KerryDarren Ritter’s character after the actor’s sudden exit from the series – but could he return in the future?

During the NBC show’s Wednesday, October 8, episode, Ritter reconnected with his former friend Dwayne (Samuel b. Jackson) and chose to leave Firehouse 51 to return to New York City and start a new life.

“I won’t give up,” Ritter noted. “It’s just an extended vacation.”

Despite assurances that he would not be gone forever, Ritter later indicated that his absence may not be limited to just a few months, adding: “We will see what happens.”

Kerry, 30, previously opened up about his final day on set via Instagram in August.

“Okay. Yesterday, I filmed my final scenes as Ritter and I’m still very amazed that my first ever TV gig – a role that was originally only supposed to be three episodes long – turned into an amazing seven years spanning eight seasons of this iconic show!” books. “While I know I may never find a cast and crew as great as this one, I intend to pass on what I’ve learned from you to every group in the future.”

In his post, Keery expressed his gratitude to the fans “who have embraced and celebrated Ritter in every aspect of his humanity.” He also noted his colleagues “who have shown up for me with loyalty, compassion, and uncompromising love throughout my time on this show and now as I move through this massive transformation in my life.”

“Each of you has become very important to me, and the care (and patience!) you have shown is absolutely indispensable,” he continued. “Thank you so much for the gift of your friendship.”

Kerry called his time Chicago fire An experience that “changed me and healed me in equal measure.”

He added: “He is a man who embodies compassion, humility, compassion and unwavering courage to save lives.” “His heroism is heightened by the way he navigates the world — a proud, fierce, loyal, whole, gay black firefighter — a possibility I never got to see on screen in my childhood but longed for desperately. … You’ve made history. Thank you very much, Darren Ritter. Farewell.”

Kerry’s brief return this season came after news broke that he would not be a series regular in Season 14. Jake Luckett, who plays Sam Carver, will also be leaving behind his full-time gig after joining the hit NBC series in 2022.

“Even though I don’t know exactly what the future looks like, I know it won’t be exactly the same, and I will miss the hell out of it,” Luckett, 40, wrote on Instagram in April. “A lot of pride in this journey.”

“It has been an honor to bring Sam back to life, and to each and every one of you, thank you for the love and support over the past three years,” Luckett continued.
