Sandro Tonali’s contract has been extended until 2029, with the option of an additional year.

The Italian agreed to the deal secretly during his suspension due to illegal betting, to protect Newcastle financially, with the club unable to use him for 10 months.

Tonali now has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, with the option of a further year.

The previous contract, which he signed when he joined the club from Milan in July 2023, would expire in the summer of 2028.

The Italian international played 45 matches in all competitions last season, after returning from the aforementioned suspension, and scored six goals and provided three assists.

He has started all eight of Newcastle’s Premier League matches so far in 2025/26.
