In a candid reflection during the Season 7 premiere of The Kardashians, Khloe Kardashian spoke about an era that glorified thinness at all costs.

She revealed that she felt ashamed of her former coach, Barry Jay, the same person she was turning to in the scene that appears in the episode.

“Remember when Barry called me fat?” Khloe had asked her sister Kourtney over the phone while she was sitting stuck in traffic on her way to the location, according to Daily Mail.

She added: “This was years and years ago, and we were running, and I stopped. And he was like, ‘This is what you’re fat for!'” And I was like, “This is why I’m here!”

Despite the sting of the comment, Khloe appears to have no hard feelings towards Barry, who co-owns a well-known fitness studio chain.

Proof of this seems to be the fact that his studio was featured in the mini-series “Kourtney and Kim Take New York,” which aired from 2011 to 2012.

Khloe’s belief that it was simply a “different time,” when such comments were fairly common and rarely questioned, could also be a factor.

“This was, like, 2006. The Biggest Loser and diet pills,” Khloe spoke further about the experience.

She added: “You were allowed to call people fat. But we never spoke after that. That’s literally the entire exchange.”
