Man Utd set to push for “amazing” English signing, £52m bid in the works
Manchester United are now planning to push for a ‘spectacular’ midfielder, who has been identified as their top target in central midfield, and a £52m bid is in the works.
Manchester United made it three wins in the Premier League for the first time under Ruben Amorim at the weekend, beating Brighton & Hove Albion 4-2, meaning Frank Ellett, also known as ‘The United Strand’ is just two wins away from finally getting a haircut.
The United fan has already gone more than a year without getting any form of fitness, having vowed not to do so until the Amorim side have won five games in a row, with only Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur standing in their way after beating the Seagulls.
Things are finally starting to look up for the Red Devils, who beat Liverpool and moved up to sixth in the Premier League table, with Gary Neville revealing the players have fully bought into Amorim, who has finally avoided some of the speculation over his future.
Neville said: “The players really like him, they like him a lot… The players really like him and want to do well for him, and I think that has happened in the last week or so.”
However, Amorim remains keen to make improvements to his squad, and the manager is understood to want to bring in a new central midfielder, and Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher has emerged as a target, with the United boss agreeing to the move last week.
There is now a fresh update on Manchester United’s pursuit of Gallagher, with a report from Spain revealing that the former Chelsea man is their top midfield target, and they are considering making a bid of around €60m (£52m) for his services.
The Red Devils are planning to push for the midfielder’s signature, and could make a move in the January transfer window, although it is unclear whether Atletico would be willing to agree to a transfer.
The “amazing” Gallagher could be a strong option for Amorim
Frank Lampard once praised his incredible personality, but the Englishman is known for his stamina, with Nathan Dyer saying: “His work rate is crazy. It’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t stop.”
However, the 25-year-old not only has a good attitude and works hard, he is also very adept at winning the ball, ranking in the 97th percentile for interceptions per 90 over the past year, compared to other midfielders.
The 22-time England international is not prolific in front of goal, but he is certainly capable of contributing in attack, having scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 136 Premier League appearances, while also scoring once at international level.
Gallagher arguably won’t be one of the most in-form players, but he could be a solid option for Amorim in midfield, given his ability at both ends of the pitch.
