Please improve your batting or else it is over for you

Team India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh once again found himself on the bench as he was not named in the starting XI for the first T20I against Australia at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday, October 29. The left-arm bowler was not in the first selection for the playing XI in the 2025 Asia Cup either, as the Men in Blue look to increase their spin and batting depth.

India’s leading wicket-taker in this system, Arshdeep Singh, has only played on an intermittent basis since the five-match home series against England at the start of the year. In 2025, he made just five appearances, picking up six wickets at an average of 29.17 and an economy rate of 8.90.

He was recently seen in the three-match ODI series against Australia, in the first two matches. The player suffered cramps during the second ODI at Adelaide Oval and was sidelined for the third ODI in Sydney as a result.

Fans have never been happy with the team management’s continued trend of keeping Arshdeep Singh on the bench, despite the pace and bounce-back conditions in Australia suiting his style of bowling. Here are some reactions on social media.

So Arshdeep, India’s second highest T2OI player, is not playing in the Asia Cup as it was friendly conditions. And he doesn’t find a place in Australia either where you can get the speed and jump. Clowns at the highest level. #INDvsAUS #AUSvIND

Harshit Rana over Arshdeep Singh in T20i, it’s too much now. Gautam Gambhir cannot ruin any cricketer’s career in order to make another one. #INDvsAUS #arshdeepsingh

Harshit Rana is back in the starting XI, if Arshdeep can’t play in Australia, good luck to him for being on the bench for the T20 WC to be held in India #INDvsAUS

Arshdeep is being benched just to fill that No. 8 position with someone who can also bat ridiculously. Imagine Harshit playing opposite him in T20Is. Arshdeep, please improve your batting otherwise it will be over for you

I definitely don’t hate Harshit Rana, I love the guy but how can you play anyone other than Bumrah opposite Arshdeep Singh? Confusing #AUSvIND #Ausvindt20 #HarshitRana #arshdeepsingh #bcci

It is quite shocking to see Arshdeep go down as the highest T20 bowler. What the hell are GG&AA doing? Disgraceful

Arshdeep Singh has picked 10 wickets in six T20I matches on Australian soil

The left-arm pacer was among India’s favorite bowlers during Jasprit Bumrah’s absence from the 2022 T20 World Cup, held in Australia. He ended up being one of the team’s key players from the campaign after picking 10 wickets in six matches at an average of 15.60 and an economy of 7.80.

While he has gone from strength to strength since then, it appears that the team management do not have him in their plans at the moment from a corporate perspective.

Team India was put into the fray first by Mitchell Marsh in the series opener. At the time of writing, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill are ready to face the start.
