Elected mayor Zahran Mamdani He said Wednesday he was ready to meet with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and other finance giants as Wall Street prepares for a new era of progressive leadership at City Hall.
Mamdani, who was elected Tuesday night to lead the country’s largest city, will take office amid growing anticipation from political and business leaders.
Mamdani, a progressive upstart from Queens, has put affordability at the center of his agenda for New York City.

Damon had earlier said he would support Mamdani if he won the seat. After the victory, billionaire Bill Ackman wrote on X that if he could help, Mamdani should “tell me what I can do.”
The Pershing Square president had previously pledged to fund an alternative candidate to Mamdani, should he emerge. He also warned that Mamdani’s fiscal plan would “destroy jobs and force corporations and wealthy taxpayers” to leave New York.
Secretary of the Treasury Scott Besant He had previously said that Mamdani’s economic proposals risked pushing New York City into a financial crisis, warning that if the city turned to Washington for a bailout, it would not get one.

“You can’t enact policies like this and expect to be bailed out,” Picente said during a Sept. 24 interview with FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria.”
“And are you going to give them this bailout?” Bartiromo pressed.
“It would be the same thing Gerald Ford said. Drop dead,” Besant said.
