West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.

According to a report by Hammers News, Saudi Professional League clubs are keen to secure the Brazilian’s services, and there was a £50m offer on the table for him. However, David Sullivan rejected the opportunity to sell the player. The Brazilian is unlikely to be sold mid-season.

West Ham reject Lucas Paqueta’s offer

“We are aware that the Saudi Professional League made an offer worth more than £50m for Lucas Paqueta, but West Ham United owner David Sullivan has rejected that offer, insisting they want to double that amount to consider allowing him to leave in January,” Bailey exclusively told Hammers News.

“Sullivan is fully aware that West Ham remain firmly in the relegation battle and that remaining in the Premier League remains their primary target until 2026, and allowing their stars to leave will not help their efforts any better.

“We have been told that representatives of the Saudi Professional League have spoken to the Hammers, where an offer was made to them, but West Ham refused.

“To allow a player like Paqueta to leave – the Hammers would need to spend at least £75m to replace him, hence the need to ask for around £100m to even consider such a deal.

“This confirms that West Ham will not sell key players next January and Paqueta is one of them. Getting a replacement in January will be almost impossible.

“They found out by going after attackers. It’s not easy to find someone willing to join the relegation battle. I’m told some deals have already been canceled because of this.”

It will be interesting to see if Saudi clubs are ready to return to him at the end of the season.

Paqueta is a key player for West Ham, and they need to keep him at the club if they want to do well this season. They are currently fighting for their survival in the English Premier League. Selling one of their best players would be a devastating blow, and could cost them their place in the Premier League next season.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops. The Brazilian might be tempted to take on a new challenge at this stage of his career. However, West Ham simply cannot afford to lose him until the end of the season. Any club that wants to sign him will have to wait until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, West Ham have been very poor this season and it will be interesting to see if they can come back strongly and finish in a respectable position. Paqueta will have to perform at a high level in order to guide his team to safety.
