On Saturday, the United States launched a wave of air strikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, where Donald Trump warned that “hell will put” the Iran -backed group if they continue to attack shipping in the Red Sea.
The US President also warned Iran against stopping its support for the armed group “immediately.”
The attacks came days after the Houthis, which controls most of the densely populated northern Yemen, threatened to resume the attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
“Today, I ordered the US military to launch a decisive and strong military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen,” Trump said in a position on the social truth. “They launched an unparalleled campaign of piracy, violence, terrorism against Americans, and other ships, aircraft and drones.”
The Houthis launched dozens of attacks on commercial ships and US marine ships in the Red Sea last year, saying that they were acting in solidarity with the Palestinians, as Israel carried out its fierce attack against Hamas in Gaza.
The attacks resulted in a severe disruption of traffic through one of the most important maritime trade in the world and continued despite the air strikes in the United Kingdom, the United Kingdom and the Israeli on the Houthi military targets in Yemen.
The Houthis stopped their campaign after Israel and Hamas agreed to a fragile ceasefire in January, and the Palestinian militants agreed to release the hostages who were seized in their attack on October 7, 2023 on the Jewish state.
But the Houthis warned this week that they would resume their attacks on shipping after Israel prevented the delivery of all aid to Gaza in an attempt to pressure Hamas to accept a revised proposal for the second stage of the ceasefire deal.
Trump said that the US air strikes on Saturday targeted Houthi leaders, bases and missile defenses.
“The Houthi attack on American ships will not be tolerated,” Trump said. “We will use overwhelming deadly power until we achieved our goal.”
“For all Houthi terrorists, your time has ended, and your attacks must stop, starting today. If they do not, you will rain on you like anything you have seen before!” Trump added.
On Saturday, Trump also warned Tehran against supporting the Yemeni rebels, who represent part of the supporters supported by Iranians who make up the so -called “Axis of Resistance”.
The United States and Israel accused Iran of providing the Houthis with increasingly advanced drone technology, as well as intelligence.
“To Iran: The support of Houthi terrorists must end immediately!” He said.
“Do not threaten the American people, or their president, who got one of the largest states in presidential history, or shipping corridors around the world. If you do, beware, because America will fully hold you accountable, and we will not be nice to it!”
Trump re -imposes the alleged “maximum pressure” campaign against the Republic. During his first term, Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 nuclear deal that Tehran signed with global powers and imposed hundreds of sanctions on the Republic.
He announced more sanctions on Tehran since his return to the White House, while he also said he wanted to negotiate with Iran in its nuclear program. But he also held the threat of military action.
His Houthi administration has also identified a foreign terrorist organization because it is looking to increase pressure on the Yemeni rebel group.
The Houthi -running Ministry of Health said that at least nine civilians were killed and nine wounded in the American strikes in the capital of Yemen.
The Houthis have taken control of SANA and most of the north ago a decade since the overthrow of the Yemeni because the poor Arab state has come to the civil war.
The conflict in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which led an Arab coalition to fight the Houthis in March 2015.
The Yemeni embassy on the Washington and Iran mission to the United Nations immediately did not respond to the requests for suspension.
