Pittsburgh Steelers to discover more today with reports suggesting veteran QB has broken wrist
The Pittsburgh Steelers must find out today the extent of the injury to Aaron Rodgers that knocked the veteran quarterback out of yesterday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Rodgers went down on his left wrist seconds before halftime after being fouled and did not appear for the rest of the game.
He suffered a “minor fracture” to his non-throwing wrist and will undergo further tests today to determine the severity of the problem, ESPN reported.
“He was excited about the win,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. “I just talked to him, but that’s all we talked about. We didn’t talk about his injury. We talked about the importance of the win.”
Rudolph comes in and gets the job done
Backup QB Mason Rudolph played the second half as the Steelers won 34-12, completing 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.
“Mason has proven in the past what he showed today,” Tomlin said. “That’s why we value him as a member of this team and we value his play — and certainly Kenny Gainwell was making play-by-play for us, winning in the flat and so on, but a lot of guys did that.”
Ramsey kicked out and claimed Chase spat on him
The physical contest was also noticeable in the fourth-quarter brawl between Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey and Bengals star receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Ramsey was fired after throwing a punch at Chase after he claimed he was spat on.
“He spit on me,” Ramsey said. “I don’t care about football then, respectfully. I’ll always be involved in trash talk, gossiping, and things like that. I actually enjoy that part of the game. I think people know that. … We were talking about s—, which is something I don’t deal with well. And then as soon as he spat, it was like that. … I’m sure the NFL, they’ll do their due diligence. They have 100 cameras in there. They can see everything… They should be able to pull it out and see That he spits and what happens next, to be honest, I was still a bit cute if I’m being honest with you.
Chase denied any wrongdoing.
“I never opened my mouth to that man,” Chase told reporters. “I didn’t spit on anyone.”
The win moves the Steelers to 6-4 on the season and sits atop the AFC North. The Bengals are third in the same division at 3-7.
