Three-fourths of voters view economy negatively in new Fox News poll

Voters’ views on the economy have waned in recent months, as economic concerns aided the president’s return Donald Trump to the White House are now affecting his approval ratings in the latest Fox News poll.

The poll, conducted from Friday to Monday, found that three-quarters of voters viewed the economy unfavorably, with 76% of respondents saying national economic conditions were either “not very good” or “poor” in their views, according to Fox News poll.

Voters had similar negative views of their personal finances, with 60% rating them as not good or bad, while 40% said they were in good or excellent financial shape.

A majority of 61% of voters said they disapprove of the way Trump is handling the economy, while 38% expressed their approval. While 77% of Republicans said they approved of the president’s handling of the economy, only 25% of independents and 6% of Democrats expressed their approval.

“The situation is not complicated,” said Republican pollster Daron Shaw, who helps run the Fox News poll with Democrat Chris Anderson. “People are struggling to afford necessities and blaming those in charge. What’s interesting is watching Democrats gain politically from a problem they arguably caused — and which crushes them in 2024. But that’s politics.”
