Tottenham players are unhappy under manager Thomas Frank

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is facing perhaps the most serious internal crisis of his career after reports emerged that several players have lost confidence in his methods.

According to The Sun, frustration is growing in the Spurs dressing room over Frank’s frequent tactical adjustments of late, which many insiders claim are leaving players unsure of their roles and responsibilities at kick-offs and during matches.

Frank was appointed Tottenham manager in June 2025, following the departure of Ange Postecoglou.

The club assigned him a long-term project, and signed a contract with him until 2028.

The hope was that his track record of achievement with limited resources, most notably at Brentford, would bring stability and renewed progress to Tottenham.

Spurs have struggled for consistency

Early optimism has seen flashes of progress, but Spurs’ 2025-26 season has been a difficult one so far.

Their home form, long considered one of the pillars of strength, has deteriorated significantly, as they have achieved only one win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the current league season.

At the heart of the turmoil is Frank’s tendency to make late or even last-minute tactical changes, sometimes just minutes before kick-off.

Such sudden transitions are said to leave players confused about their positions and responsibilities.

After a promising attacking plan, Tottenham have returned to more conservative defensive tactics, a move seen by some as regression rather than progress. This sudden shift is said to have upset players who were accustomed to clarity and direction.

The performance on the pitch didn’t help. Poor league results, a devastating 4-1 derby defeat to Arsenal and a disjointed 5-3 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League have raised serious questions about cohesion, morale and tactical clarity under Frank.

Their most recent defeat came to Fulham in the Premier League, dropping Spurs to 12th place in the league.

If Spurs don’t turn things around quickly, they risk not only a poor performance but a broken dressing room.

Tottenham’s next few weeks, which begin with a tough match against promoted Newcastle United, could very well define Frank’s Tottenham career.
