‘Grand Theft Auto’ Publisher Swaps DEI for ‘Diversity of Thought’ in Annual Report

Take-Two Interactive, and Publisher Grand Theft Auto VIIt gives up any mention of diversity, arrows, and inclusiveness (DEI) efforts and strengthening the “diversity of thought” in its last annual report.

The change, which was first monitored by the game file, is part of the 10-K’s annual report, which provides an insight into the company’s and financial work and risk factors. In 2024, the report included a strong section on Dei, expressing the support of groups working on “eliminating social injustice”, LGBTQ+ Rights, Minority Games Design Students, and “Celebration of Cultural Differences” through employee groups.

In the 2025 report, Take-Two only mentions the diversity in one field: “We believe a firm belief that the diversity of thought pays innovation, which is an integral part of our success.” The report adds that the company aims to “provide a comprehensive workplace in which everyone feels respect, listening and safe”, but it does not include obligations to provide scholarships for minority games design students, which were made in 2024.

“By enabling our colleagues to adopt the mentality of entrepreneurship and to bear the calculated risks, we believe that we have created an environment in which our people can flourish,” says the report.

This step is part of an increasing trend of companies whose initiatives are declining, amid a campaign on anything that the Trump administration sees.

Dei’s efforts in the video game industry have grown from the first days of games, but until 2020 were the major companies that started supporting the minority developers while recognizing greater systemic issues. After the killing of George Floyd at the hands of the police, companies began supporting movements such as Black Lives Matter and pledged to help marginalized developers. Since president Donald Trump abandons DEI in both the public and private sectors, these efforts may now be in danger.

I arrived at WIRED, and a spokesman for Take-Two refused to comment. The website on the web still includes a statement it says it believes that “the most valuable and effective teams are more valuable. Diversity is the key to our success.”

Enjoy the reaction of Dei Backlash, which has recently spread to all companies in areas such as TECH and Retail, a fixed foothold in gaming communities. Last year, the online harassment movement attacked itself as “Gamergate 2.0” consulting companies that were appointed to provide guidance and advice on cultural sensitivities, and created lists considered even a whiff of anything non-white, CIS-Male, and sexual sex. In modification societies, modifying games such as Sims 4 It is created to remove LGBT and Black Player characters from the game.

The language in the Take-Two report reflects those for companies like Meta, which it said will seek “cognitive diversity” at 10 KK earlier this year, as it ended its Dei programs.

The Entertainment Programs Association, which now organized E3, which is now organizing, rejected a defender of the video game industry between organizers and legislators, to comment on the impact of DEI’s decline in video games. Instead, a WIRED spokesman took out the ESA page on its website, which represents the representation of the heroes and that the “video game community is wide and varied.”
