Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins discusses latest on egg crisis

The Minister of Agriculture, Brock Rollins, celebrates the Ministry of Agricultural, which exports up to 10 billion dollars for agricultural producers in the “final result”.
The Minister of Agriculture, Brock Rollins, said on Tuesday that although egg prices will remain high, the egg industry has already overcome the most challenging stage in the crisis.
“We move to Easter. Prices may crawl a little, but I think we have passed the difficult part,” Rollins said during an interview with Fox Business Niter.
Rollins noted that egg prices earlier this year were 237 % higher than it was when Trump left his post in 2021. She said that one of the main factors behind this increase was the outbreak of pathogenic birds, known as bird influenza.

But Rollins argued that the had a reaction to the “bold” strategy consisting of five parts, the Ministry of Agriculture announced last month.
Rollins said the administration is working to lock the barns faster and focus on recycling. It also works to temporarily import eggs from other countries. Rollins said the agency is also investing in research and development of treatments and vaccines to try to fix this problem.

“We have reached it. We started talking to other countries around the world,” said Rollins. “I think we have more than 150 scrutiny from the barns around the country of laying eggs and important producers.”
However, the farmers previously told Fox Business that although the billion dollars Rollins strategy is an important step in resolving the crisis, it will take some time to find out any major impact.

“A mixture of these factors allowed prices to reduce a little,” he said. “While the prices moved in a positive direction, the eggs are still greatly more expensive than it was at this time last year.”
Egg prices increased by 10.4 % in February of the previous month, according to the Ministry of Labor data. Prices jumped 58.5 % on an annual basis.
Nelson said that the outbreak of the disease affected more than 166 million birds, including 127 million eggs, since 2022, which led to a loss in an average of 42.3 million egg layers per year. Nelson said this is equivalent to about 11 % of the average annual layer stock for a period of five years, amounting to 383 million chickens since the outbreak of the disease began.
